There is a great importance and usefulness that stimulates us to publish a series of books in basic sciences; Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, Pharmacy, Medicine, etc…. This series is intended to the undergraduate students of basic sciences in Faculties of Science, Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, Agriculture, etc… The publishers plan to include, in each book of this series, a part about questions and problems at the end of each chapter, in addition to tables, appendices and a list of references. This will enable the students to gain more knowledge and clarify things. Each book is also provided with a C.D.; to help the students to interact with the book materials and visualize the main concepts and ideas. The publishers hope that this series will be beneficial for the students and play a great role in the development of basic scientific knowledge to the readers both students and lecturers. This book “Introduction to Biophysics“ is the first issue in this series and intended for student’s studying Biophysics, Medical physics and Biomedical engineering. The emphasis is on building a strong foundation in the principles of Biophysics. Attention is given to practical application and solved problems. “Biophysics” is an interdisciplinary science that uses the principles of physics and mathematical analysis, in addition to computer science for explaining and discussing the biological phenomena and to approach the functions of living systems. In accordance with the increasing use of Biophysics, we have, in this book, greatly increased the emphasis using the principle of physics for the subjects with mathematical treatments and the recent applications in the different fields, especially in biological and medical sciences. To help the students, the book deals with the principles of all interested fields of Biophysics, hoping that it will be useful and sufficient, particulary, for the students who specialize in Biophysics.
